The University of New Hampshire offers the only AACSB-Accredited online MBA in the state. Below you will find information on its structure, unique characteristics, admission criteria, and even foundational coursework.

1. University of New Hampshire

UNH’s Paul College of Business and Economics is a top-rated school, and its Online MBA program is no exception to this. Value Colleges has ranked the program #43 in its 2015 rankings of “Top 50 Best Value Online MBA Programs”.

UNH’s Online MBA is an excellent choice for students who need maximum flexibility while completing their studies. It is an innovative program, and can be completed in 2 to 6 years from anywhere. Students who enroll in the program must be highly motivated and able to balance the courses rigorous demands. Classes are asynchronous, which means students can learn any time of day. The curriculum for the Online MBA is the same as UNH’s Flexible MBA.

Admission

An accredited undergraduate degree is required for admission. However, admission into UNH’s Online MBA program is somewhat different than its campus MBA programs. It includes an assessment of the candidate’s history of academic achievement, along with other unique criteria. In addition, Online MBA applicants can request to waive the GMAT if certain conditions are met.

The state offers a total of two AACSB-Accredited MBA programs in New Hampshire. This might not seem like much, but each program is highly ranked and well-respected throughout the U.S. Both the Tuck School of Business and Paul College of Business have a lot to offer, so take a look!

1. Dartmouth College

Tuck School of Business was founded in 1900 as the world’s first graduate school of management. Its MBA program is a 82.5 credits in length, which consists of 46.5 credits for the first 16 courses taken, and 36 credits of electives. The program is full-time and residential, and majors are not available. The program offers unique experiential learning opportunities, exchange programs, and leadership development opportunities – plus, more than 100 elective courses are offered in a wide variety of areas including accounting, communication, economics, entrepreneurship, ethics and social responsibility, healthcare, marketing, organizational behavior, strategy, and others. Completion time is 2 years.

Admission

Admission into Tuck is highly competitive. An undergraduate degree, letter of recommendation, and GMAT/GRE score are required (amongst other criteria). An interview is not necessary but highly recommended. The average GPA of an applicant is 3.5, and average GMAT score is 717. Applications can be received at various times throughout the year, and deadlines are October 7 for early action, November 4 for the November round, January 6 for the January around, and April 4 for the April around. The early action round is a great option for students who are confident that Tuck is their first choice.

2. University of New Hampshire

University of New Hampshire logoThe University of New Hampshire’s Paul College of Business and Economics offers a variety of MBA programs, including a Full-Time MBA, Executive MBA, Flexible MBA, and Online MBA. Each is delivered by Paul College’s outstanding faculty, backed by a solid alumni network, and filled with experiential learning opportunities for students. The school is AACSB-Accredited and boasts a 96% job placement rate for 2015 full-time graduates.

Completion Options

  • Full-Time – The Full-Time program is a 48 credit one-year program that consists of 11 required courses, three electives, a New York residency, corporate consulting project, and international residency. It is an intensive program and classes are taught Monday to Friday at UNH’s Durham campus. All terms are eight weeks in length, and there are five terms per year. The program begins with six weeks of online study in July and wraps up the following year in June. A specialization in entrepreneurship is available and includes a residency in Silicon Valley.
  • Executive – The Executive MBA program is a fast-paced program that is structured for working professionals with years of working experience. Classes are delivered every other Friday and Saturday at the Sheraton Harbourside in Portsmouth. Class sizes are small and designed to encourage teamwork and networking. The accelerated program is built on a cohort model and begins every September, and includes a residency in New York as well as a ten-day residency abroad. All classes are taught by UNH’s distinguished faculty, and the program emphasizes analytical tools, skills, and concepts for management. The program is 19 months in length and requires 17 core courses.
  • Flexible – The Flexible MBA requires ten core courses and six electives. It is designed for students who need maximum flexibility, such as working professionals or parents, and can be completed in less than two years. Classes are taught in the evenings from 5:30 to 9:15 at three locations: UNH’s main campus in Durham, UNH’s satellite campus in Manchester, and online. Specializations include entrepreneurial venture creation, financial management, hospitality management, and marketing and supply chain management.

Admission

Admission criteria for each program is unique. However, all require an accredited undergraduate degree. The Full-Time and Flexible MBA programs require an official GMAT score for applicants with less than five years work experience. The Executive MBA does not require an official GMAT score if work experience is sufficient. The average GMAT score for all three programs is 560.

Franklin Pierce University logoThe College of Graduate and Professional Studies at Franklin Pierce University offers an NEASC-Accredited MBA. Its curriculum is designed to prepare students to become confident and knowledgeable leaders of conscience. FPU is a well-known school and has had its share of associated big names. For example, former White House chief of staff Andrew Card served as its fifth president in early 2015.

Franklin’s 39 credit MBA program is offered at its locations in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Lebanon, as well as online. Campus and online classes can be mixed for a hybrid program, and many classes are offered during the evenings. Franklin’s academic course year is divided into four terms, which begins in September, November, March and May. Normal completion time for the program is 21 months, and students can choose from 6 concentrations.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and program start times are in the fall and spring. An accredited undergraduate degree with a GPA of at least 2.0 is required (an official GMAT/GRE is not necessary).

2. Rivier University

It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and offers an MBA degree both online and on-campus. Its MBA program provides graduates with a broad-based education in traditional business disciplines, and its courses are delivered by faculty members with real-world experience. Rivier’s class sizes are small, and graduates leave the program with enhanced people, project, and program management skills. Top employers of its graduates include Fidelity Investments, Hewlett-Packard, and Raytheon.

The program is 39 credits in length which includes 27 core courses and nine elective credits. Courses are seven weeks in length, and there are a total of 67-week terms per year.Possible concentrations include Information Technology Management and Management. All nonelective credits are required for a concentration.

To apply, an accredited undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. A GMAT score is not required.

The program can be completed in as few as 15 months by taking two courses every ten weeks. It is 39-57 credits in length, and all classes are taught by SNHU’s experienced faculty members. Classes can be taken either on campus, online, or a combination of both. Foundational courses are required (15 to 18 credits), but may be waived depending on undergraduate coursework.     6. Plymouth State University

    New Hampshire MBA Career and Job Outlook

    The Bureau of Economic Analysis valued the GDP of New Hampshire at $66 Billion in 2014. Although this is 40th in the U.S. when compared to other states GDP, New Hampshire has one of the highest median household income’s of any state at just over $65,000. What’s more, the state is home to a number of Inc. 5000 companies and large national employers, and unemployment for March 2016 is second lowest in the nation at 2.6%. Overall, job outlook prospects for MBA graduates in the state of New Hampshire are excellent.

    As stated, many up-and-coming Inc. 5000 companies operate in the state, including RocketDrop (#90), Excell Mobile Distributors (#1021), and Vital (#1442).
